Beverly Gilyeart
Masters of Music in Violin Performance
Beverly holds a Masters of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Washington where she studied with Emanual Zetlin, Donald McInnes and Denes Zsigmondy. Post graduate studies include work with Irv Eisenberg, Yuriy Mikhlin and Margaret Pressley. Piano studies with Katherine Strickland. Fiddle studies with Ruthie Dornfeld and Brian Wicklund.
Beverly’s free lance and solo engagements include work with some of the area’s finest conductors and musicians: Dr. Stanley Chapple, Paul Elliott Cobbs, George Shangrow, Karen Thomas, Hans Wolf, Fred Coleman, Roger Nelson, James Van Horn, Andrew Bernard, Jaared Powell, David Mahler, R. Joseph Scott, Kenton Lee, David Gentry, Wallie Goleky, Kenneth DeJong, Jim Denman, Lauren Anderson, Claire Garabedian , Brian Davenport and Stuart Dempster.
Beverly has had her own violin duo and been a member of the Bellevue Quartet and the Bellevue Philharmonic Quartet.
Beverly’s teaching career includes a stint at University of Puget Sound as a Suzuki instructor, violin instructor for the Gene Nastri School of Music in Everett and violin instructor in Seattle Public School’s “SPACE” program. She has taught violin and piano for more than 40 years in her private studios in various teaching locations in the greater Seattle area.
In the past, Beverly enjoyed working with dogs at the Everett Animal Shelter as a volunteer. Now, she takes care of her own menagerie of 2 cats and two dogs, Luna and Oskar. She takes frequent 8-mile walks in the beautiful wetlands area near home, walks her dogs, practices her violin, prepares for her student’s lessons, and ballroom dances with her life-partner Ed.
